Violets are Blue Skincare Creator Cynthia Besteman on Surviving Cancer, Taking Action and Daring Bravely

Cynthia Besteman’s mother used to tell her that she seemed to always choose the hardest path; but Cynthia realized very early on that what she loved wasn’t the hard way, but the way that pushed her to figure out the solution to a challenge no matter how much pressure there is in the moment.

In 2011, after the Seattle, Washington, native, who was a theater actress-turned-successful real estate agent in New York City at the time, was diagnosed with breast cancer, she not only faced the challenge of healing herself, she also searched for a solution that would provide all-natural skincare options for women in treatment. Violets Are Blue skincare was born, and Cynthia began her journey as an entrepreneur in the green beauty space.

On this episode of the Support is Sexy podcast, Cynthia — now Founder and CEO — shares how she created her Violets Are Blue Skincare line and got it in some of the biggest retail stores around the world, plus the importance of taking inspired action, living the question and doing something that scares you every single day.

On this episode, you’ll learn:

  • Pay attention to the signs.
  • Don’t be afraid to take imperfect, inspired action.
  • Learn to live the question.
  • Tell people what you’re up to.
  • Do something that scares you everyday.
  • Steps she took to create her all-natural beauty line.
  • Why this “no” may be good for you.
  • The value of daring yourself to fail.
