Yona Love didn’t have an easy childhood. Born in Israel, she came to U.S. with her mom and her four siblings at age nine after her parents divorced, and she chipped in where she could as her family was on public assistance in order to get by. It was during this time, that Yona says she learned the value of working hard by watching her mom learn English, study at night and build what later became the family’s constructions business, which Yona now helps run. But deep down, in the midst of blueprints and permits, Yona always had a love for fashion.
Today, although Yona still runs the family constriction company, fashion is her business, and her new line Yona New York is — made for women sizes 14 – 24 — is gaining momentum. Most recently one of her looks was worn by This is Us star Chrissy Metz, and it has been featured in publications such as Refinery 29 and Life & Style.
