Regina Gwynn’s first entrepreneurial venture was as a salesperson for Avon… when she was only 12 years old! Since then, although she did spend some time working in corporate America, the North Carolina native knew she’d be an entrepreneur.
Years later, while on the beach with one of her sorority sisters, Octavia Pickett-Blakely, the two discussed what kind of business they might form together by discussing 1) what they both had personal experience with 2) the pain point they wanted to address. As a result, they formed the innovative tech company, TresseNoire.com, an app that allows you to schedule a stylist, who specializes in textured hair, to come take care of you wherever you are within the company’s service areas. No more spending an eternity at the salon!
On this episode of the Support is Sexy podcast, Regina talks about the value of going corporate first, how to hold your own (and tailor your story) in front of investors, and the power of partnership when it comes to starting your own business.
On the episode, you’ll learn:
- Why there’s value in corporate experience prior to entrepreneurship.
- The importance of having an advisory board.
- Why you need an accountability partner who’s willing to poke holes in your ideas.
- Why Regina is an advocate for partnership when starting a business.
- How to hold you own and tailor your story for investors.
