“Your dream has to scare you in some way for it to change the world.”–Camara Aunique Helps
Celebrity makeup artist and businesswoman Camara Aunique Helps has worked with celebrities like Ava DuVernay, Quincy, June Ambrose, Yvonne Orji, Lil Rel Howery, Angela Bassett and countless others. It took years of sacrifice and a willingness to be comfortable being uncomfortable so she could one day fulfill that dream. On this second episode in our “WHERE IS SHE NOW?” series on the Support is Sexy podcast, we catch up with Camara when she is literally pushing herself outside of her comfort zone. At the time, she was signing up for the Brooklyn Half marathon and thinking about ways she could go bigger in her life so she can build her legacy and have an impact. Camara was first on episode 33 of the Support is Sexy podcast back in August of 2016, and spoke to us about the courageous moment she gave up her position working with Estee Lauder to become a part-time makeup artist with MAC so she could learn the ropes and enter the industry as a professional makeup artist.
Now having been in the business nearly a decade, owning her own company — Camara Aunique Beauty, working with dozens of high-profile clients, traveling the world, and launching her own lash line in the past year, she feels it’s time to stretch and get uncomfortable once again. She speaks to us during this interview about manifesting your vision, taking risks, being pushed outside of your comfort zone and building your legacy.
