Court Buddy Co-Founder Kristina Jones: Making Moves without Permission & Making A Mark in Technology

Prior to getting laid off from her job as a creative executive, Kristina Jones used to think entrepreneurship was a dirty word. The moment that changed was when she realized she was finally free to focus her full attention on her new venture, Court Buddy, and that she didn’t have to ask for permission to do the things she wanted to (or needed to) do — such as taking time off to go to the doctor while she was pregnant with her son. After that epiphany, the Los Angeles native knew entrepreneurship was a gift.

Today, Court Buddy is a multiple award-winning service that provides people and businesses with access to attorneys when needed, regardless of their financial status, and provides solo practitioners and attorneys with a platform where they can instantly get clients. On this episode of the Support is Sexy podcast, Kristina — who co-founded Court Buddy with her attorney husband, James, and recently raised $1 million in funding for the business to continue to expand — talks about  tapping into your customer’s pain point, taking inspired action, putting one foot in front of the other and being unafraid to learn along the way. Plus the advantages of being a Black woman in tech, the value of entering startup competitions (even if you don’t win) and why you have to be willing to make moves to place yourself in the right ecosystem for your business.

On this episode, you’ll learn:

  • Stop asking for permission.
  • How to look for a pain point and live the question.
  • Why you MUST take inspired action.
  • Don’t be afraid to learn as you go.
  • Why entering startup competitions is good for your business (even if you don’t win).
  • Why you have to be willing to move and place yourself in the right ecosystem for your business.
  • How to avoid the “Instagram effect.”
  • How Kristina and her co-founder/husband secured $1 million in funding through smart networking.
