Lucinda Cross was a student at New York’s Iona College, when she was first exposed to entrepreneurship while witnessing students creating their own products and services to sell. Prior to that, she grew up in public housing in the Bronx, New York, and adopted what she calls a prevalent “struggle mentality” — even though she was surrounded by ambitious women, like her mother, who had multiple degrees in higher education.
When Lucinda became anxious for success and enticed by what seemed like easy money during her college days, she made some decisions that landed her in a position where she was one of 28 individuals charged as part of a federal conspiracy case. Federal agents descended on her family’s apartment building months later, and as a result, she ended up serving 4 1/2 years in prison and 5 years probation.
But her story does not end there. Lucinda’s is an incredible story of resilience and vision. And on this episode of the Support is Sexy podcast, Lucinda — who is now President and Chief Activator of her own company, Activate Worldwide, speaks around the world about the power of vision, and who has appeared in media, such as Essence and the Today show — shares how to shift your mindset, hold onto to your vision, remain resilient and believe in the possibilities, no matter your circumstance.
