Actress, dancer and comedienne Mo Brown is done asking for permission. After having worked in the creative arts space for many years and performing with companies, such as Alvin Ailey, she decided that waiting for someone to “choose” her and say she’s “good enough” to be in their productions was no longer something she could do. Instead, she decided to create, produce and release her own work using the many platforms artists (and all of us!) have available to us today — especially through social media.
On this episode of the Support is Sexy podcast, Mo — a native of Jamaica, West Indies and Brooklyn, New York, who is the creator of the web series Mo Brown’s Bodega and of the new skincare line Mo Body Butter — talks about overcoming rejection, the journey of self discovery as an artist and learning to use your art to handle your business.
On this episode we discuss:
- Overcoming rejection and bouncing back from failure.
- Learning to create a service business using your skills as an artist.
- The never-ending journey of self discovery as an artist.
- Launching a business out of a personal pain point.
- How to enroll other people in your vision.
