From the time she was 5-year-old and stealing pieces of foil from her mom’s kitchen so she could craft pieces of jewelry and save them for the “business” she planned to open, Tamiko White knew she was meant to be an entrepreneur. And from the moment she saw (four times, that is) Stephanie Mills bring it “Home” during performance in The Wiz, Tamiko also knew that impacting people through performance and the arts was also meant to be a part of her journey.
Today, as a style ambassador, branding expert, speaker, model, actress and educator who works with several global fashion brands, Tamiko is — in one all-encompassing term — storyteller.
Between meetings and appointments as she gears up for New York Fashion Week, we talk to the NYC native about the business of fashion, the evolution of fashion week and what designers, stylists and students all need to know before getting in the game.
